CLASSIC WORKERS DINNER JUNE 28TH, 6 PM,  AT THE CLUB.   WE WILL BE
VISITING ALL DAY.  ALSO SEVERAL MEMBERS PLAN ON CAMPING THAT
WEEKEND SO PLAN ON ATTENDING AND SPEND A DAY WITH YOUR
BOWHUNTING FAMILY.

Note yr game was taken and weapon used.  We especially want the young hunters pictures.  Past Pictures are
welcome, they don't have to be recent.

Field shoot on July 5. It is for anyone who wants to come and try field archery. The cost is free for this 1 shoot only. Registration starts at 8:00 till noon. Hopefully we can spark some interest and add a field shoot in place of a 3d shoot for next June. Its a lot easier to put on in the hot weather.  Bring a friend.

THE CLUB COULD USE SOME ONE  INTERESTED IN TEACHING I.D.N.R. HUNTER ED
AND N.B.E.P. BOWHUNTER ED CLASSES - THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE WILLING TO
ATTEND SOME 1 DAY WORKSHOPS IN INDY AND TEACH A COUPLE 2 DAY CLASSES IN
HUNTER ED AND A COUPLE 1 DAY CLASSES IN BOWHUNTER ED.  INVOLVES SOME
RECORD KEEPING AND CLASS SET UP TIME.  LOTS OF FUN, GET TO WORK WITH
YOUNG AND UPCOMING HUNTERS.

WE ALSO NEED 3 TO 5 MEMBERS WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO ATTEND THE
WILD GAME FEAST EACH YEAR AT INDIANA STATE FAIR.  REQUIRES ACQUIRING
ENOUGH DEER MEAT FOR SUMMER SAUSAGE, STORE MEAT TILL LAST OF
JULY AND THEN GET MEAT PROCESSED FOR FAIR DATE (USUALLY 1ST SAT OF AUG)
ATTEND FAIR, SET UP BOOTH AND HAND OUT MEAT SAMPLES TO THE PUBLIC.
FAIR TIME IS USUALLY EARLY AM TILL AROUND 2 PM.

ANYONE COMMITTING THEMSELVES MUST BE WILLING TO DONATE THE TIME
NO CANCELLATIONS ONCE WE MAKE COMMITMENTS.

SUBJECT: CLUB GUIDELINES (pending 3-6-08 mtg)

 

TO:            ALL CLUB MEMBERS

 

Let all members of the White River Bowhunters know that the following guidelines are set down by the members each year
in March, to insure that each and every member will be provided with the most complete, safe, prosperous and organized
club possible.

These guidelines are not to conflict with our Constitution and By-Laws.  These guidelines allow us to run our organization
more efficiently, without having to constantly amend  our By-Laws.  (Note- often when amending our By-Laws they have
to be changed thru the state and must always by done with the aid of the club’s lawyer)

These guidelines will be reviewed each year and the membership will add, delete or change them as they feel necessary. 
No changes may be made unless all members are notified by mail prior to such meeting held for this purpose.

1    Any individual wishing to become a member must attend a monthly meeting to sign up and be approved by the
Advisory Board.  A Advisory Board meeting, for this purpose will be held after the regular meeting each month.
NEW MEMBERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE UNTIL NEXT MEETING.  The Advisory Board may
may make allowance for a applicant who cannot attend a meeting.

2    There will be no firearms discharged on the club grounds at any time unless during a sanctioned event. 

3    There will be no vehicles allowed on the wooded portion of the range unless it is in performance of range maintenance. 

4        Club members with a working membership must work one scheduled club shoot or work party.
Assist during the classic shoot.  The Shoot Chairman will assign workers, where needed.

5    The locks on the club gate will be changed each year at May meeting.  The Secretary will issue each new member
a key to said lock when their dues are paid up to date.  $l.00 will be charged, if a member does not have the previous
year’s gate key to exchange.  All club keys will be stored in the furnace room and keys to this area will be issued on a
as needed basis, authorized by the club president.

6    Broad-head type points will not be used on the practice range except on authorized targets.  At no time will
broad-heads be shot into the indoor bales at the clubhouse.

7    At no time will any member charge merchandise or services to the club without authorization from the membership,
or a majority of the Advisory Board.  Any member doing so will do so at their own risk and cannot expect restitution
from the club.

8    No alterations to the club facilities will be made without proper authorization from the membership, or a majority
of the Advisory Board.

9   During scheduled work parties all ranges will be closed for practice.  This is to insure safety and help maintain
morale among workers.

10  Any one misusing club facilities or causing a loss of income to the club will be required to reimburse the club or
suffer loss of membership.

11  No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the shooting ranges during a sanctioned shoot.  The Advisory Board
will post no drinking signs in the clubhouse as they deem necessary.

12  Any one conducting themselves in an un-sportsman like manner will be asked to leave the facilities. 
(Consult an officer of the club prior to acting)

13  Indoor range shooting fees will be $l.00 per person (member), $1.25 per person (non-member) (per occurrence-no heat).
Add $5.00 per hour with heat.

14  Use of club facilities will be handled on a individual basis.  Scheduling will be done by the President and
Recording Secretary.  Scheduling should be done 45 days in advance and requires a club member to be responsible. 

15    All price and quantity of trophies will be decided on by the membership. ( or by the majority of the Advisory
Board in an emergency)

16  Scheduling of all shoots will be done by the Advisory Board and approved by the membership at a regular
monthly meeting.

17  Flowers will be sent to the family of any club member who incurs a death in his or her immediate family.  Cards
will be sent in all other cases.  Only the club president or recording secretary will be authorized to order flowers. 
Immediate family will include: spouse, children, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers.  Immediate family same for a members
spouse.  Anyone hearing of a death in a club members family should notify the club president or secretary.

18  Individuals using the club facilities who are not members should be approached and ask to join the club.  Any
individual who continues to use the club facilities without joining should be referred to the Advisory Board.  The Advisory
Board will notify this individual  they are not to use the facilities any further unless they join the club.  Any violation of the
Advisory Boards instructions will be dealt with thru legal channels, and the individual will be notified of the clubs intention.

19 All individuals using any club owned equipment (tractor, chain saws, O.R.V.’s, mowers, etc) will read and abide by
the equipments users manual.  No equipment will be used without the proper safety manuals being read and the proper
safety equipment required being used.

20  There will be no hunting of any kind on any grounds, owned or leased by White River Bowhunters, Inc. 
(Insurance clause).

NOTE:  POINTS WILL ONLY BE AWARDED DURING THE TIME YOU ARE SIGNED UP AS A MEMBER.
EXAMPLE - IF YOU SIGNED UP IN JULY YOU CAN NOT GET POINTS FOR A SHOOT YOU WON IN FEB.
SAME THING APPLIES WHEN TAKING ANIMALS FOR COMPETITION.

SUBJECT: Big Buck - Big Doe - Competitor of the Year

TO:             All Club Members

In order to qualify for Big Buck and Big Doe Awards the deer must be taken in Indiana and be accompanied by the tag number given you at the check in stationDeer must be taken in accordance  with Pope and Young standards of fair chase and Indiana game laws.  Doe’s will be scored by weight.(and must have written verification from a check in station of the weight)  Bucks will be scored, using Pope and Young scoring system.  All deer must be checked in with Gary Baldwin or Harold Gregory (within 48 hours of kill, preferably before skinning), to be eligible for awards.  Deer taken the last day of season must be turned in by January 5, 2009

Competitor of the Year will be determined by shooting in tournaments.  You will be awarded points in the following manner; 1st place=10 pts, 2nd place =9 pts, 3rd place=8pts, 4th place=7pts, 5th place=6pts, 6th place=5pts, 7th place=4pts, 8th place=3 pts, 9th place=2 pts, 10th place=1pt.  If you compete and don’t place you get 1 point for competing.  All scores must be witnessed and turned in to Harold Gregory/Gary Baldwin by January 9, 2009.

SUBJECT: Bowhunter of the Year                                                  January 12, 2008

TO:             All Club Members

The following is a point value for determining Bowhunter of the Year.  All score sheets must be turned in to Harold Gregory/Gary Baldwin, no later than January 5, 2009.

All animals must be taken in accordance with Pope and Young standards of fair chase and Indiana game laws.

All kills should be witnessed, if possible.

 Animals with a point value of 50 or less may be taken in any amount, in accordance with Indiana State Laws, with a maximum of 100 points per species.  Animals with a point value of 100 may be taken in any amount, in accordance with Indiana State Laws, with a maximum of 200 points per species.

Be fair with your fellow competitors and the game you are hunting.  Abide by all laws which pertain to the game you are hunting and be honest with yourself.  Archery is an honorable sport, let’s keep it that way.

Winners will be announced at the annual meeting and the winner’s names will be put on a plaque and displayed at the club house.
